10 Web design ideas to look forward to in 2020

Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist.

Design trends change faster than technology sometimes, as exciting as all of this it’s ways a good idea to keep an eye on what’s coming next. Technological advances and speed of internet coverage getting better all time, the creativity of designs will adapt accordingly. Over the last decade, websites have become smarter with interactions, and machine learning algorithms. In 2020 design and all these smarter technologies will come together to produce outstanding websites.

1. Minimalism

In design, Minimalism is about reducing concepts to their very essence. It is very focused. Minimalism will continue to dominate the digital landscape in 2020. CSS animations and fade effects that make scrolling more engaging will give web pages the options to space out their content and thus result in more whitespace, with contrast and clear typography without far too many distracting elements.

The minimalistic design is one of the most classic and enduring web design trends, we believe that will continue to be explored in 2020. The fewer elements and content on a website, the less your audience will get distracted from the message.

2. Diversity

SOne of the things we often forget that is the internet is a worldwide phenomenon. The interweb connects more than 4 billion people all around the world from different cultures, backgrounds, lives, gender identities and they like to see themselves reflected in their content rather than grinning stock photo models who get repeated used far too often.

In 2020 we will see designers make even bigger steps towards inclusiveness, from improved accessibility measures to culturally conscious and diverse symbolism. The rest of the world still has a long way to go in this, but these designers can use their skills to show that the web is supposed to be about people making real connections.“Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure and persistence”COLIN POWELL

3. Toch/Thumb friendly navigation

With mobile having firmly overtaken desktop on website visits, design overall is becoming gradually touch-friendly. One of the most important studies in this area was that of Josh Clark with his book Designing for Touch, in which he examines how most users hold their mobile phones and how their movements within the websites, particularly those of their thumb, should be considered in the web design process. in 2020 More and more users will face navigation tailored to the thumb, such as the hamburger menu moved to the bottom of mobile screens.

4. CSS Animations

CSS Animations have fully arrived in the web world. They are being used in the websites to heighten a site’s user experience and make it more interactive. These include background videos, motion graphics, fluid scrolling effects, micro-interactions. CSS animation is a great feature which has increased serious attraction by the visitors. Scalable Vector Graphics have set new standards into the field of web animation. Since there is no quality loss in SVG graphic even if we render or resize, it the definitive standard for 2020.

5. Organic Shapes

Organic shapes will get featured more prominently in 2020. Any shape is irregular and uneven can be called an Organic shape. It simply means it’s little imperfect or deliberately adding imperfections within in the design to make it unique. Combined with carefully drawn illustration, or an image or group of them can break up the flatness of some layouts. They can be used in more hand-drawn and humanistic designs. With their unique shape, these can be used to grab a user’s attention and add a personality to some websites.

All web pages are set up for grids, in 2020 designers will turn towards natural shapes and fluid lines. With the use of Geometric structures such as rectangles and triangles to create a sense of balance. Since organic forms are imperfect and asymmetrical, they can add 4d depth to a web design that makes content elements stand out.

6. AMP

Accelerated Mobile Pages is an open-source coding standard for websites. The purpose was AMP is for administrators to be able to load their sites quickly on mobile since mobile responsive could be clunky and slow because desktop resources are heavy and plenty. It removes most of the elements of a desktop version of the website which are unnecessary for a mobile site.

AMP is a web component framework to easily create user-first  websites, google nudging websites to follow AMP coding standards for an easier mobile experience, just like Schema.org

Browsing on mobile while you’re on-the-go will mean that your internet speed is not always that good. So it’s is a good strategy to optimize the experience of mobile browsing for all mobile users (at least that’s what Google pushing forward) by coding a mobile version of your site with AMP.

7. More video

Everyone knows video content is more engaging for users, it does not only add a visual element to the site but delivers information for users who aren’t inclined to read the text or the time to have time to scan through a lot of text. There is a new strategy from google to rank mixed page results, What is new is the move Google has made toward mixed search page results, allowing video and text with them easily searchable and offer content in the most efficient shareable way. 5G data being deployed all over the world, with large scale adaptations of CDN, the video will play centre stage in delivering information to users in 2020

8. Webflow

Webflow Launched in 2013 as a graduate of Y Combinator’s startup accelerator, Webflow is a visual drag-and-drop tool for creating performant, responsive websites without the writing any code.

The Webflow tool is a Photoshop-like interface that allows designers to generate semantic markup by dragging and dropping HTML elements and styling CSS properties.

Any designer who worked with WordPress post types or DIY site builders, know-how terrible the markup they produce now they can rejoice that Webflow can W3C compatible code that can be deployed straightway.

The Designer interface is not at all complex for most designers who work with adobe suits, it can certainly make your creative ideas a reality without having to learn to code or hire a developer. We believe 2020 is when designers will start using Webflow in numbers.

9. 404 glitch animations

Error 404 is an unavoidable nuisance in web design, but making it a fun experience would make user journey a pleasant one. So lots of retro design making its comeback in 404.

Glitches are ever-present when computers & digital products and services are so pervasive, so making some a fun experience make total sense, developers are coming up with creative ways to brand identity and funny side of technology.

10. Hero Menus

Much like videos and micro-interactions are popular now, hero menu’s with touch-friendly navigation will become popular in 2020. It makes sense smaller touch targets would be more difficult for users to hit than larger ones. So the hero section will contain ore touch-friendly navigation with responsive elements destined for mobile users.
